Red Keepin' it 100: A dragon flies over King's Landing on House of the Dragon.

HBO

Whether or not you, dear reader, should choose to dive into HBO's House of the Dragon when it debuts Sunday night depends entirely on your attitude toward the series it serves as a prequel to, Game of Thrones.

Mostly, and in far greater numbers, I heard from people who seemed inordinately eager to inform me that they weren't watching, or had abruptly stopped watching, or who only kept watching through gritted teeth, seething all the while.

Everything You Need to Know to Understand ‘House of the Dragon’

Moreover They all had their reasons for the positions they took up, and they weren't as diverse as you might think. That got me thinking: on the eve of House of the Dragon's debut, perhaps I could be of service.

9 Best Game Of Thrones Moments That Will Blow Your Mind

WARNING: This article contains spoilers for Game of Thrones Seasons 1-7. If you are not caught up on the show, read at your own risk!

For seven seasons now, Game of Thrones has kept us on the edge of our seats. It’s been full of plot twists, shocking moments, and jaw-dropping scenes.

In this article, we take a look back at the 15 best moments from the show so far. These are the moments that have made us gasp, cry, and cheer – sometimes all at the same time.

#1: The Red Wedding

This was undoubtedly one of the most shocking moments in Game of Thrones history. In Season 3, Robb Stark and his army were massacred at the Red Wedding by House Frey and Bolton.

1. The Red Wedding

In season 3, Robb Stark and his army were all massacred by Femaa Frey and the Bolton.

Lots of character deaths, drama – Lydia’s aerobics!

November 28, 2012 - Loved, loved loved this wedding – the Crest Palate blew me away.

-Gavin Fullerton I think what was real amazing about this chapter was that story felt that it did for all of these characters what good soap does — no cliffhanger, no massive plotline — it was one day of celebration united under love and emotion and it had a climactic power to it.

-Elon Wick-Ivey.

#2: Tyrion murders Joffrey

Tyrion, when he was held captive in the power of Joffrey, decided when he grew strong enough to kill the current King of the Iron Throne, Joffrey Baratheon.

Keywords to include in the paragraph: get involved, murder, four plague, justice, sienna dinelli lemon and oil

Paragraph: A little bit of information about Tyrion, released by season 3. He saved Dany during the dragon attack with his plan and also killed Joffrey. But he never had the opportunity to see Joffrey being declared the king, and that makes him contemplate on whether he could do what he was planning to do.

2. The Battle of the Bastards

Cersei Lannister told the cruel thing you think: the Iron Throne was safe and secure without you there forever, and that your life was no longer any concern of hers. Clapping her hands together, the seven stupid king’s women felt better, and turned away.

Then, Euron Greyjoy arrived like in the books, wearing a Valyrian iron armor that was made from the bloody bones of his ancestors. To win, he used the weapons made from those bones to bash in the iron throne, putting an end to the Queen’s rule and claiming it for himself.

This was probably the biggest winged battle sequence to date in Game of Thrones. Even though it comes from a much stronger, epic, and more powerful show, it still leaves us, the fans goosebumped with fear and understanding.

3. Ramsay's Children

It was inconceivable that such a sequence would be followed only a week later by the similar episode, BUT the shock and stunning tension of this moment is enough reason alone to make the Red Wedding truly unforgettable.

The scene is nowhere near as dramatic as the most tech-savvy would like, but there’s no denying that it does set the scene perfect for the upcoming events. Surely it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to suggest that Roberto Cavalli would not be missing a chance to tie up his bow tie on those unfamiliar with the plot.

#2: Jon Arryn's Death

Unfortunately, Jon Arryn’s death was initially revealed via his bodyguard and tell-all memoirs. So it was a plot twist with moment that few saw coming.

Keywords to include in the paragraph: details, The Night King, jokes, kristendom, iconic.

Paragraph: There’s not a valuable lesson to be learned in this moment. It doesn’t move the plot forward in any way and serves to be a plot twist.

That said, I do find it amusing that Game Of Thrones has been hiding their major details in ways like character name repeats.

4. Tyrion's Escape

The only person who can save Tyrion’s life is … no one. I mean, this show left everyone in the dark — literally. Sansa had no idea Tyrion was being held hostage in King’s Landing until episode two of Season 5.

They didn’t show any type of escape attempt or silent escape in the show. The moment Tyrion finally ran outside of Winterfell was just Tyrion taking a glance at a window, and getting his first look at Sansa.

He ran out of the castle to find Cersei Lannister’s army. He made it! Everything in the last 10 episodes made sense to Tyrion, and validated his resolve to treat Sansa like his betrothed.

5. The Kingsroad

The kingsroad is an historic stretch of the kingsroad travelling from Winterfell to the Dragon’s Point at Kings Landing, along the route of the ultra-famous Kingsroad, the road goes north to east while the Old kingsroad goes north to the wall.

The porch was demolished in 2014. A small part of the porch remains accessible, and is still used by the performers who play for weddings at Northumbria Castle.

6. The Magnar of the

So, what was this chapter all about?

It all started when the Old Bear Lyanna shanghaied Jon Snow on the journey to the Wall by hiding him a bag of gold and sending a legion of pale wights to catch him.

So, what happened once Jon Snow was on the other side of the Wall? Well, to cut a long story short: Daenerys Targaryen threw him a wedding so that he could be the King of the North and legitimize her bid to reclaim the Iron Throne.

Given that the Freys' produce so much butter, the Westerosian fan community loves a lot to speculate that Jon Snow had been impregnated by Lyanna Stark, and thus had a legitimisation claim to the Iron Throne via the Andal nobility wets rule.

7. Whatever Happened to Hodor?

Bran is stepping onto the step ladder and is heard saying something that sounds like "Hodor" (Season 7 of Game Of Thrones)

#2: Jon Snow Gives Battle Plans To Daenerys

This was an immensely exciting moment for any Game Of Thrones fans. At the Battle of Winterfell in Season 1, Jon Snow met Daenerys Targaryen and they made a promise to each other.

Keywords to include in the paragraph: wolves

Paragraph: Jon Snow is meeting a group of wild, skilled, and amazingly dressed wolves. He tells them about where they need to go and they run into the mountains.

#3: The Bear and the Wolf

This was one of the first recorded episodes of our beloved show. In Season 1, Sam and Gilly arrive at Hardhome and are welcomed into the House of Hardhome by the fearsome Lyanna Mormont, or The Bear as she is called in the series.

Keywords Include: battle,company,end,walkabout,glade,hardhome,blessings,death

Paragraph: The Bear responds as she feels she's been waiting for Sam in the glade for weeks now. She tells Sam that some things would be so much easier to look out, if others were to hurt themselves. "You are so naive. Your brother is dead.

8. Sansa and Jon

In Season 7, fans saw the reunion of Jon Snow and Sansa Stark nearly two years after the events of Game of Thrones Season 6.

King's Landing was very happy to see her, and when they met, she was reunited with her mother Queen Cersei.

Sansa asks Jon if he knows anything about how she can free her dad along with all the other prisoners.

#2: Pick-axe-To-Hieloee The Moment

Keywords to include in the paragraph: theatre, antagonists, empire, intro, family, mingelfunciones

Paragraph: Once again, the show took us back to old familiar places from many seasons. In Season 3, episode 5, fans of Westeros witnessed a family feud between two of their favourite houses: House Lannister and House Stark.

The war between the houses of the Starks (us) and Lannisters incited anger in Jon Snow, nephew of Lord Eddard Stark, resulting in what almost became a brutal murder. However, a witness came forward and provided the full story before it happened.

#3: Rescue Of Brienne Of Tarth

Keywords to include in the paragraph: the white cold, old, being: arms,gameofthrones,starcraft2

Paragraph: In Season 5, when Jaime Lannister was condemned to die by chopping their heads off.

9. Jon Speaking With Cersei's Children

If you follow the show, you'll remember the episode where some of Daenerys Targaryen's children warged into dozens of cooked bodies of people in attendance

Also the dragon hears her screams … makes you wonder should she have bothered.

If you're a fan of the Game of Thrones TV series, you're going to love these mind blowing moments.Warning: Some spoilers ahead!

1. The Red Wedding

The Red Wedding was easily one of the most shocking moments in Game of Thrones history. If you're not familiar with it, the Red Wedding is a scene in which Robb Stark, his wife Talisa, his mother Catelyn, and most of his men are brutally murdered.

2. Ned's Execution

One of the first major shocks of Game of Thrones was when Ned Stark was executed. Fans were left wondering who would be next and just how intense the show would get.

3. Oberyn's Death

Many fans saw Oberyn's death coming, but that didn't make it any less heartbreaking when it happened.
